Wow, the 2014-15 season was unforgettable. So many players made major contributions to the National Championship runs.
In the 2015-16 season, I think that some of the same players will have big impacts on (hopefully) another National title:
1.) Junior DL Joey Bosa:
After a monstrous season of being named Big Ten Defensive Player of the year, he will come back with something to prove… that he is the best in the country. Bosa always has an extremely competitive mindset every time he steps on the field, and Quarterbacks all over the country should be scared when they see him coming at them.
I think Bosa will a leading contender for the Heisman Trophy and will set his draft stock high after next season. I am really excited to see him sack QB’s and light up Offensive linemen next year.
2.) Junior RB Ezekiel Elliot:
Zeke was undoubtedly one of the key factors to the Buckeyes’ National Championship. His clutch runs and leadership on the offense were huge in every game of the season, but in particular, in the three championship games.
Zeke should be considered the best RB in the nation at the moment, and may even be considered the leading consideration for the Heisman. His combination of speed and power is perfect for the Buckeyes. Expect a huge year out of him in 2015-16.
3.) Sophomore HB Jailin Marshall:
I had the privilege of watching Jailin play High School ball when he played for Middletown (OH) and his speed is unbelievable. His football knowledge is also outstanding.
He will probably get more playing time this year, and expect him to make a huge impact. His hands and ability to catch the ball are huge (Anyone remember his one handed over the shoulder catch against Indiana?)
There are so many other players that will impact this team, like the THREE QB’s returning from last year, and players like Vonn Bell who played impeccable defense to help us seal the championship games.
I can’t wait for next season, but first, we have a long time to enjoy the fact that we are NATIONAL CHAMPIONS!
